It is considered the Sistine Chapel of this type of art. They were pained around 15.000-12.000 b.C.

Our next stop is the Roman Empire. In Mérida, we can find one of the most amazing and well conserved roman theatres in Europe. Another roman construction is the Aqueduct of Segovia. Its length is 15 kilometres. It has 62 arches and its 28 meters high.

One of the most representative monuments of Madrid is the Monastery of El Escorial. It used to be the residence of the king back in the XVI century. It’s been declared world heritage. It occupies 33.327 m2 and took 21 years to be built.

The city is a mix of cultures. In Toledo, Catholics, Muslims and Jewish used to coexists. The city has been the scenery of many historical events and this is reflected in every street. Due to his strategic location, it was very hard to attack. This has made the city conserve most of its monuments nowadays. The richness of the city can be observed by its monuments. Madrid. About you

Over the past decade, Madrid has become one of the most touristic places not only in Spain but also in Europe. This huge evolution has been able thanks to the investment by the government on tourism. These actions have been encouraged to attract tourists from Europe.

And how can we explain this evolution. First of all, with the creation of the web page www.esmadrid.es. In this site, you can find whatever you are looking for when visiting Madrid. It’s orientated to both tourists and business. In reference to tourists, the web page has many options depending on which type of tourist you are. If you are a family, there are many places that you can visit by just clicking on the site. If you are a young person, the site also tells you the best places in Madrid at night or other types of activities you can enjoy. If you just want to enjoy the food or the touristic sites there is also plenty of information you can take.

On the other side, if you are looking for business in Madrid, there is also a wide range of aspects that you can find interesting. The business centre in Madrid is located in the north part of the city. The web page offers you information about infrastructures, conventions centres and many other things that can interest any business person.

The effort that the local government is putting into giving to Madrid a good image, is showing good results. It has succeeded to the point of being the most touristic city in Spain, over many other cities of the coast.

Spain. Whatever you want?

Why did I choose Spain as a theme for my blog? Well, first because I’m Spanish. Second, because Spain is a country which tourism is one of our most important industries. Therefore, the Spanish government dedicates a lot of effort to promote Spain among other countries to catch tourists. I wanted to know how Spain was promoted outside our frontier.

The first thing that caught my attention was that one of the main aspects that characterized Spain (according to the web page www.spain.info) was nightlife. There is a very big interest on informing the visitors that in Spain you can have 24 hours party. This is interesting because it reflects the Spanish character of being people who like nightlife.

The truth is that the government is trying to put control over this. It is true that its easy to find places open anytime at night, but also the number is being reduced. It is interesting how in one hand they are trying to attract tourists using this, but on the other they are reducing the nightlife.

Apart of this, I think this is a good way to attract young people, sun, beach and party. Three ingredients that no one could reject.

Acciona. An example of failure in PR

Today I will talk about a company that failed when dealing with PR. The company itself is called Acciona. Is a Spanish company which its main aim is to build infrastructure. A few years ago, the company decided to change their corporate image. The main of the change was to promote social responsibility with the environment.

During a month, the company made a teaser campaign. After that, the company started to look for stakeholders. This was because they were planning to go out to the stock market. Everything was going fine to the company except that they forgot one thing: to inform their employees. The employees thought that the company was being sold. Protests started, and this gave a bad image of the company.

Regarding this situation, we can see as Acciona failed with their internal communication. The PR was being orientated to catch new investors, but nobody informed the employees. Regarding this we can see as it is very important to planificate PR actions globally, not only focusing on our objectives, but also keeping informed what we already have.
